Jardine's parrots are native to Africa. They are medium-sized parrots.

They make very good pets. They are very smart -- Joey talks in context. When he is sitting on Coco's cage, and Coco starts bothering him, I frequently hear Joey carrying on a one-sided conversation with Coco. "Coco... no... ow! ... no bite... be good, Coco."

Jardine's have J'attitude. They are strong-willed birds who frequently want their own way. They can also be very sensitive, so they need a pretty experienced bird owner who can find that balance between nurture and discipline, and do it without upsetting the bird.

Joey is pretty even-tempered. The last time I took him to the vet (to have his beak trimmed) he behaved very well, in spite of being stressed out. He stepped up for the vet and didn't try to bite.

Oh yes, they have fairly large beaks, and can deliver a painful bite. But they are also pretty transparent -- it's easy to tell by their body language when they are in a bad mood, and then it's best to leave them alone.
