The real problem is that I always need to open them when I don't hve any tools, which is next to impossible.

I transferred my business to a professional tape supplier after MiniDV tapes started appearing in blister packs that could not be opened without nuclear weapons! Or at least a knife. Or a pair of sissors. Neither of which I happened to have when I needed to shoot!

Professional MiniDV tape packaging is in plain cardboard boxes!
