Has anyone ever bought lousy garlic?

I thought it was pretty much indestructible, so I never paid much attention, but now I have two cloves of sickeningly soft garlic. Ick!

Is this common, or is my local supermarket just not very good?

Needless to say, I'll be checking from now on.
