Organic chicken vs regular chicken

Is Organic chicken worth the mark-up? Is it really better, or the same, or worse than the cheaper brands bought at Wal*Mart?

I tested both Wal*Mart chicken (Perdue's boneless chicken at about $4.50 a pound) and Giant Eagle Market District's premium Market Basket chicken at $5.99 a pound.

I found that when cutting the chicken, the Market District product seemed firmer and higher quality. When rolling the chicken around in the wok, the chicken definitely seemed to be of better quality.

I liked the texture of the more expensive chicken better when I ate it, too, so the more expensive chicken appears to be well worth the marginal price difference of about $ 0.75 per portion.

Both brands claimed loudly that they had no hormones. However, apparently hormones are not allowed in any chicken. The Market Basket chicken had a better diet and was treated more humanely. Apparently when your chicken has a better diet, so do you, indirectly through the chicken. However, my concern in this was perceived quality. I felt it was significantly higher with the fancier brand.
